The chosen candidate will be based at our Phoebe Solar Project located near Odessa TX.

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager - Regional Operations, the Site Manager - Operations, Solar Energy will manage the day-to-day operations of the solar facility in collaboration with the O&M contractor. This position will be the main Owner point of contact for operations activity and the solar facility.

The main responsibilities are as follow:

  • Manage the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the facility in accordance with established contracts, operating plans and budgets;
  • Manage the relation with the O&M staff and subcontractors who are performing operations and maintenance activities on site;
  • Monitor SCADA for the solar farm and substation to ensure proper plant production and to make sure issues are being appropriately managed by the O&M contractor;
  • Complete or assist with NERC compliance reports for Owner and liaise with the internal compliance manager as required;
  • Complete weekly and monthly internal operations reporting and circulate in timely manner;
  • Establish quality relationships with and manage commitments to all stakeholders including the O&M contractor, landowners, functional entities, qualified scheduling entities, local community, authorities and others as required;
  • Ensure the facility is managed safely in accordance with established procedures;
  • Carry out periodic safety inspections of the work being performed at the facility and escalate issues to the O&M contractor as required;
  • Maintain database of faults and maintenance/performance and safety issues to ensure the O&M contractor is held accountable;
  • Inform all appropriate internal departments of emerging faults and issues;
  • Communicate short to medium term forecast costs and any change to the budgets to the appropriate internal departments;
  • Review invoices and make sure that the costs charged to the project are correct;
  • Provide relief for site management or operational support to other sites as requested;
  • Additional duties as required.

Professional Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in operations or High School Diploma;
  • 5 years of experience in a related role to demonstrate knowledge;
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders;
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel;
  • Basic electrical (low voltage) and switching (high voltage) knowledge and experience;
  • Basic mechanical skills;
  • Knowledge of First Aid and CPR an asset;
  • Have a valid driver's license in good standing.
