Job Description:

Looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer

Salary: 150-180K + bonus

Location: Fremont, CA

Must have 3+ plus years firmware development experience in optical transceiver or transponder Digital Signal Processing C/C++ programming


  • Responsible of Firmware development for complex pluggable optical transceiver
  • Design and implement Firmware from concept, prototype, pilot until mass production
  • Perform design review with hardware, optical and system engineers
  • Develop unit test cases, perform Firmware White Box and Black Box test to validate design effectiveness
  • Conduct Firmware debug and troubleshooting at different levels
  • Document Firmware high-level and low-level design, versions, implementation, and user guides
  • Support customer design-in activities with close cooperation with other team members from different groups
  • Provide instructions to Jr. Firmware engineer, and review their design


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • 3+ years Firmware development experience in optical transceiver or transponder

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or above in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • 3+ years experience in metro/LH direct detection or coherent optical transceiver/transponder

Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in developing DSP (Digital Signal Processing) algorithms, tuning/control loops
  • Highly proficient in C/C++ programming language
  • Familiar with ARM, 8051 MCU programming, and basic info about ADC, DCA and digital signals.
  • Very knowledgeable of I2C/SPI/MDIO protocols
  • Understanding of tunable Laser, MZ modulator control algorithm, calibration method
  • Understand Telecom, Datacom standard and 100G/400G optical transceiver MSAs (CFPx, QSFP, OSFP, COBO)
  • Ability to work as part of a cross-functional and geographically dispersed team
