Job Description:

Optical Design Engineer

Salary: $150K + bonus

Looking for a candidate with a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or physics optical physics, secptroscopy control theory and implementation Digital Signal Processing, modelling and simulation opto mechanical design mems ocl zemac or code analysis

Essential Functions:

Responsible for component, module and subsystem development for optical transport network on wavelength management, cross connect, performance monitoring etc.
Responsible for optical centric design and development, drive process development and other multidiscipline functions to realize final new production introduction
Responsible for design concept, system modelling and simulation, and tolerance/trade off analysis
Responsible for key material, piece part and component specification, procurement guidance, characterization testing, and qualification
Responsible for prototype build, process and manufacturing guidance, product characterization and testing strategy, drive testing bed set up and maintaining
Responsible for Design verification and test

Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics
5+ years experience in the following:
Optical Physics, Spectroscopy, Control Theory and Implementation, and Digital Signal Processing
Strong problem solving and analytical skills, knowledge and experience on modelling and simulation with related tools
Strong Experience and knowledge on Opto mechanical design, tolerance and thermal/stress analysis with tools such as Zemax or CodeV, ANSYS
Strong Experience and knowledge on complex free space optical systems, micro-fabrication, optical assembly, packaging and automation
Knowledge and experience with MEMS, PLC, LC/LCoS, Silicon photonics
Knowledge and experience on optical transport or metro access products
Experience on component vendor interaction, piece part specification and performance characterization
Experience and knowledge on design for manufacturability/reliability (DFx), yield/cost analysis, quality tools (FMEA, DOE, etc) and Telcordia qualification
