This Development, Manager position will support Selling System is an enterprise Java/JEE application to support FRE in purchase of loans. The manager will bring in the knowledge and leadership to build and manage high impact teams that deliver quality products to meet Single Family business needs.

We are not looking for a typical manager with Java developer experience, rather a manager who brings experience to champion Selling System transformation from waterfall to Agile and DevOps, and from monolithic to microservices architecture. The manager will bring strong application engineering experience to deliver top notch solutions, has passion to coach teams, and be catalyst to cultural change. The manager will own full end-to-end delivery of software products with direct and indirectly managed team members of varying professional levels.

As Selling System is complex business application with continuous concurrent projects/programs, it is critical that the manager communicates well, build great partnerships and influences our business partners, and team-up with other IT partners.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with business partners to plan for releases and be accountable for delivery of them. Leverage Scrum Masters and PMs for the same purpose. Overall accountable for the delivery, including quality and budget of the releases. Lead both waterfall and Agile projects.
  • Responsible for resource strategy for the projects including managing full life cycle of Statement of Work with vendors.
  • Collaborate with other managers and directors in your organization to build the organization's vision, mission, and strategic objectives
  • Develop culture of Innovation.
  • Contribute and promote good development practices that are followed through the project life cycle.
  • Remove impediments and risks/issues facing teams to enable smooth delivery.
  • Manage 6-9 direct reports of developers. Coach them on career development, and review the performances. Attract, recruit, retain, and develop top engineering talent.
  • Cultivate and groom leaders.
  • Lead accountability, autonomy, and empowerment within your teams resulting in self-directed work teams.
  • Evangelize the principles behind the Agile Manifesto and DevOps in all interactions and equip the team to do the same.
  • Champion and influence technology decisions with business partners. Establish and maintain relationships with peers. Demonstrates characteristics of approachability, team player, and enthusiasm.


  • At least 8 years of software development experience in distributed enterprise grade applications with strong design and solutioning thought leadership
  • At least 5 years of experience in leading delivery teams
  • Minimum of 5 years of people management
  • At least 2 years of experience in leading delivery in DevOps environment
  • At least 3 years of experience in Agile practices
  • Strong communication, presentation and customer/business interfacing skills is a must
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science

Preferred Skills

  • 2 years of Microservices development and production support experience on OpenShift/Kubernetes/Docker
