JOB CONTENT

1. Position Summary:

(Overall purpose of this position)

  • assists the CMO with the development and implementation of health care policy and standards of care as related to advanced practice nursing.
  • provides leadership, direction & oversight in maintaining compliance within the scope specified by the Ohio state board of nursing & the CNP scope of practice.
  • assures the advancement of organizational goals, program and projects.
  • Serves as Family Nurse Practitioner

2. Essential duties and responsibilities which must be performed in order to carry out the position purpose summarized above:

  • Perform all duties of a Family Nurse Practitioner as outlined in job description.
  • Leads the recruitment, retention, clinical practice, orientation, competency validation and professional development of the CNP's within the Family Medicine Practice.
  • Direct and manage staff: select, hire, train, coach, counsel, monitor and assure performance of staff.
  • Serves as an expert resource in the utilization of CNP's within the specialty-specific focus area of care delivery.
  • Identifies new and existing best practice initiatives, collaborates in the determination of competency metrics, collaborates in assessing financial productivity and participates in clinical outcome data analysis.
  • Oversees quality improvement initiatives and promotes the scope, quality, and quantity of CNP services. assures adherence to quality and productivity standards.
  • oversees and routinely coordinates the updating of clinical policies and procedures, chart review, prescriptive review and other clinical quality activities in coordination with the NFP staff.
  • Serves as a resource for appropriate provider billing. Assists in identifying benchmarks to evaluate billable and non-billable services provided.
  • Manages the schedule, staffing plan and coverage of CNP's. Identifies professional development needs of assigned staff and maintains a current understanding of national and market trends within the profession.
  • Leads APRN meetings; co-lead as needed provider meetings.
  • Assure compliance with regulatory agencies including CLIA, Joint Commission, HRSA. Assure quality of care by developing and interpreting NFP standards of care; assure compliance with State Board of Nursing and CNP Practice requirements and other governing agency regulations.
  • Demonstrates excellence in written and verbal communication, public speaking, presentation skills, critical thinking and decision making skills. demonstrates ability to facilitate group processes and achieve agreement and consensus. ability to foster a cooperative work environment and view success in relationship to group success.
  • Optimizes the utilization of electronic medical records.
  • Represent APRNs on various organization-wide committees.

3. Qualifications:

A. Specific knowledge, training or skills required to perform the duties of this position. Specific concepts, courses, training programs or required certifications:

  • Masters of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice
  • Current RN and APRN Licensure in State of Ohio
  • Board certification as Nurse Practitioner from ANCC or other certifying Board;
  • Meets Credentialing requirements/qualifications for clinical privileges

  • Demonstrated understanding of the scope of nursing practice and the role of the nurse practitioner.

  • Demonstrated clinical competence, including physical assessment, health teaching and counseling.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and evidence-based practice through independent reading and study, and participation in continuing education programs.

  • Demonstrated understanding of public health policy and practices; familiarity with medical home model of care.

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate in English, Spanish preferred.

  • In-depth emotional intelligence: demonstrated self-awareness, accurate self-assessment, sensitivity and empathy, openness, reliability and consistency. Demonstrated cultural competency and understanding of underserved populations.

  • Computer proficiency: application of EMR and related functional software.

  • Demonstrated collaboration skills.

  • Minimum .77 FTE

C. Previous experience that is necessary background to qualify for this position:

  • Moderate level (3-5 Years) of Certified Nurse Practitioner experience in Family Practice or community health care setting
