Job Description:


The Manager, Business Development will support the program team and activities of the Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) program in the Greater Cleveland area. The employee will focus his/her efforts on business outreach support with middle market and large corporate employers in the service area. This involves the management of internal and partner systems and processes and requires an understanding of the customer relationship management (CRM) systems - Microsoft Dynamics and Salesforce. The employee will assist the Senior Manager, Business Development with regional business attraction efforts. This requires an understanding of the internal, regional, and state site selection processes, and the state's real estate database, ZoomProspector, and the Commercial Real Estate database, CoStar. The employee will coordinate and manage the program activities and marketing initiatives with GCP Business Development staff and report directly to the Senior Manager.


  • Assist with management of business attraction real estate leads from JobsOhio, Team NEO, and other sources for Cuyahoga County through relationships with local municipal and quasi-public Economic Development staff. This includes completion of RFIs and managing property records in the state's property database, ZoomProspector, in conjunction with local partners.
  • Manage business outreach marketing initiatives to build awareness around the GCP Business Development team to generate inbound referrals and warm calls. This includes email communication campaigns, printed collateral, case studies, content creation, etc. through collaboration with internal team(s).
  • Assist Business Development team with client interviews including recorder of information, follow-up, and coordination with partners and internal program teams.
  • Manage the CRM Systems, Microsoft Dynamics and Salesforce, for business development initiatives.
  • Create and manage reports for business development activities as requested.
  • Assist team members with Business Development forums.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor Degree in appropriate related field.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in business management, business administration, marketing, economic development or other related field, required.
  • Experience writing business correspondence and handling phone contacts with companies.
  • Ability to record business interview information accurately and organize information in databases.
  • Knowledge of computer programs relevant to the assignment such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Data Base programs, PowerPoint, and other computer programs.
