Job Description:
This is an anticipated opening for a middle school English teacher at Mount Greylock Regional High School. A bachelors degree in English or a related field is required. Masters degree preferred. At least three years of middle school English teaching experience preferred, but strong candidate with less experience will also be considered. Applicant will be expected to teach five sections of heterogeneously grouped eighth grade English class and will work closely with the eighth grade teacher team and the 7-12 English department. Historically, the eighth grade English and history teachers and students have done substantial interdisciplinary work together, and the ideal candidate will be willing and able to maintain and grow this valuable collaborative model. We are looking for candidates who will be able to carry on existing program elements but who also have their own ideas about eighth grade English curriculum development. Detailed knowledge of state and national curriculum standards in English is expected. Ideal applicant will have excellent classroom management skills and demonstrate mastery of effective instructional strategies and learning assessments. The applicant will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of adolescent growth and development. Applicant will possess excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and show the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, administrators, and the community. Mount Greylock is moving to a new building in September, and we are excited to have new, flexible learning spaces to support instruction.
