We are currently searching for a full-time Teacher Assistant to join our DuPage Head Start Team, Bilingual Teacher Assistant (Ages 0-3yrs.) and Bilingual Teacher Assistant (Ages 3-5yrs.) for our Learning & Wellness Center!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

•Assist in the timely completion of all Head Start education requirements.
•Participates in a team approach to planning and implementing program activities.  Collaborates with Family Support Workers, Teacher, Program Aide, site partners, and Site Supervisor for the betterment of the classroom and families.
•Assumes responsibility for classroom in Teacher's absence.
•Responsible for the program's Planned Language Approach, which is specifically designed to support dual language learners.
•Aids in the maintenance of ongoing, high quality documentation of school readiness skills.
•Provides active supervision to ensure the safety of Head Start children while in the classroom, during transition, at time of transportation, and while on the playground.  Ensure that no child shall be left alone or unsupervised.
•Promote appropriate adult-child interactions by use of open-ended questions, moderate tone of voice, respect for children’s individual learning and communication styles, providing assistance, comfort and encouragement as needed.
•Participate in the arrangement and maintenance of the physical classroom environment to supplement the curriculum and provide a safe, healthy environment through the completion of daily health checks, a health and safety checklist, and a cleaning/sanitation checklist.
•Supervise children in the classroom, washrooms, outdoors, off-site and other activities as assigned.
• Under the guidance of the Head Teacher, develop a portfolio for each assigned child that includes weekly observations, objective anecdotal recordings, anecdotal recordings of other teachers, parents and children, child work samples, photographs and child dictations.
•Maintain compliance with all documentation as required by licensing agents, Head Start, CYS, Pre-K and Metropolitan Family Services.
•Actively participate as a team member in meetings, supporting center policies, in the development of team and center goals, and in supervision.
•Participate in teacher development opportunities through in-service, conferences and professional organizations. Utilize available resources on site, through internet websites, professional organizations and libraries.
•Provide care for children during parent meetings or workshops as assigned.
•Develop and maintain effective and supportive relationships with parents, children and staff.
•Develops portfolios for each assigned child, which includes weekly observations, objective anecdotal recordings, samples of child’s work, photographs, child’s dictations, and anecdotal recordings of other teachers, parents and children.
•Contributes to the education file for each child, which includes required forms, consents, assessments, screening results, IEPs, parent-teacher conference results, home visits and on-going individual goal planning and accommodations as needed.
•Participates in the planning and implementation of a minimum of semi-annual home visits and parent-teacher conferences.
•Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Job Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS:

•Associates degree in  in Early Childhood Education, Child Development  or related field
•AND One (1) year of teaching experience with toddlers.
•OR Bachelor's Degree with three (3) years of experience in an Early Childhood setting.
•Bilingual required (English/Spanish)
•Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
