Job Description:

Lifeworks is looking for professionals to join our team of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Service Specialists, inthe supported living and vocational habilitation settings. The ASD Service Specialist is part of an interdisciplinary team of professionals who deliver a high quality calibre of service, care and support for adults with an Autism Spectrum Disorder through the implementation of objective goals, interventions and strategies outlined within individualized service plans in both day and supported living programs within Lifeworks.

Lifeworks programs incorporate empirical assessment to identify preferences for vocational and recreational experience, as well as to determine individuals' current capabilities in relevant domains. Following best practice standards, experienced staff design individualized and group skill-building opportunities for onsite and community-based experiences in the goal areas of communication, social interaction, vocational training, activities of daily living, personal care, recreation, leisure, and community integration.

In Lifeworks supported living programs, each day is highly structured and consistent. Residents are given appropriate choices of free-time activities, household responsibilities and community experiences based on their preferences and skill levels.

The ASD Service Specialist will provide prescriptive supports and supervision for recipients in all identified settings to ensure their safety and well-being, while striving to help them live optimally meaningful and self-determined lives.

The Lifeworks programs employ facets of Monarch's educational model, visual learning and an emphasis in applied behavior analysis.

Regardless of the therapeutic focus, ASD Service Specialists receive invaluable clinical experience, working as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, whose mission is to ensure that adults with autism lead more independent and enriched lives.

A Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, or related field is preferred. Experience working with individuals with ASD adults and their families and experience in the realm of vocational training preferred. Lifeworks offers field work experience and supervision hours for BCBA and BCaBA candidates.


Knowledge and experience pertaining to autism spectrum disorders, including functional analysis of behavior, and behavioral management.
Sensitivity in relating to persons of varying backgrounds and demonstrate ability to work with diverse groups of people possessing various strengths, aptitudes and abilities.
Ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
Practical and creative problem solving skills.
